BREAKING NEWS - THE FORMER CHIEF JUSTICE OF NIGERIA IS DEAD
Mr Aloysius Katsina-Alu, the former Chief Justice of Nigeria is dead - Mr Aloysius Katina-Alu,the former Chief Justice of Nigeria is dead. He died at the age of 76.
Media sources revealed on Wednesday morning that Mr Katsina-Alu died in a hospital in Abuja after a brief illness.
Awassan Bassey the special Assistant on media to the current Chief Justice of Nigeria, Walter onnoghen,confirmed the news.
According to Mr Basset, "I received a text message from the Chief registrar of the Supreme Court, Hadizat Mustapha, regarding the death of Mr Katsina-Alu on Wednesday morning.
Ms Mustapha informed Premium Times that she was informed about the former Chief Justice of Nigeria's death by his personal assistant on a text message.
Mr Katsina-Alu was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1968,a year after he was called to the British Bar in 1967.
He became a member of the bench in 1979. He is from Ushongo in Benue state Nigeria. He was appointed to the Supreme Court in 1998 and became the Chief Justice of Nigeria in 2009.
